Beauty of Vintage

EAT. PRAY. LOVE. BUY VINTAGE.

Vintage clothing is not only an obsession for many but also an eco-friendly way to shop and help cut down on sweatshops.

Re-use. Re-worked. Recycle. Rescue.

The benefits of wearing vintage are numerous and rewarding. It's really a delight to realize that no one else is wearing the same outfit!

Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second rate version of somebody else. ~ Judy Garland

So many reasons why I love vintage clothing. You can wear something totally unique, which is so refreshing and inspirational; it's a perfect way to truly reflect your personal style.

Check back when you can as I will be updating my blog more often.

Lazy late afternoon photo shoot & picnic.

"When work is a pleasure, life is joy! When work is a duty, life is slavery."

- Maxim Gorky

Late afternoon fun shoot.  Mini-picnic with my BGFF and business partner, Cameron.

Camera: we didn't appreciate you giving up on us less than an hour into the shoot!

The red dress is 70 + years old.  The original owner is a very charming lady in her 90's.  She wore this dress when she was a teenager.  I love the scoop neck and the 2 faux pockets.  The faux pockets had the initials "M & L" for Mary Lunsford.  I had to remove it to make it my own.

This dress will be up for sale soon.  Sign up so I can keep you posted!

Photo: 30's linen/muslin red dress, single strand white bakelite necklace from the 60's.

1940's fascinator hat.  Velvet lined.  Original owner was an opera singer from the 50's.

Photo: Hard to find authentic USN pea coat in MINT condition, Government issued 1976.  Six visible buttons and all carry an anchor design on the front.  The lining of the coat is quilted and there is an inside pocket.  Double-breasted.

Cameron is wearing vintage Balmain tie with geometric pattern.

Remember friends, Its a fact of life that history repeats itself; fashion and clothing trends are no exception. Since fashion is cyclical, there is always some style from the past that has been made new again. When you purchase a vintage piece, you are getting something that cannot be found at every chain store by the thousands. It is a limited, if not one of a kind, item just for you.......

Spread vintage amore!

Vintage crisp and chic look from the 70's

This photo is from 1971 magazine. I love how super chic this look is. I must copy the look, stat! I have the gloves, checkered dress coat and fedora. I can't wait to share the final look!

I love that this coat dress is neatly defined in blocked checks. Wear it belted or not..great look to wear almost anyplace anyday.

Keep rockin' vintage wear!

vintage umbrella

I just love this sweet multi-colored(but predominantly pink) umbrella; it is my favourite. It has a great an sturdy bakelite/lucite handle.  I love the design that looks like ferns crawling out of the umbrella.  I believe this type of umbrella is from the 1940s.  I found this from an estate sale and the lady kept everything.  She even has letters from as far back a 1890's!  They were selling it and I have to take it with me.

I wish they still  make umbrellas such as this.  Nowadays, It's all plastic and low-quality material.  That is why i'm forever going to be a fan of vintage items.
